Art Rental
- Art Rental is available to anybody 18 years of age and over
- Customers must have a Regina Public Library card in good standing and present their library card for each Art Rental transaction.
- Individuals and institutional borrowers can rent a maximum of 5 works for a 42-day loan period.
- Art Rentals may be renewed twice, unless a hold has been placed.
- All works are framed, matted, and packaged in portfolios with easy to carry handles, making transportation between the gallery and home as convenient as possible. Artworks must be transported in their protective containers.
Unlike many Art Rental Services offered by galleries or museums throughout Canada, Dunlop Art Gallery does not charge a membership fee for use of this service. The only cost is the rental fee:
- Fee: $18.00 (plus GST and PST)
- Fines: $1.00 a day to a maximum of $50.00 per work
Bike Locks
- Bike locks are only available at Connaught Branch, Prince of Wales Branch, or Glen Elm Branch locations.
- Locks cannot be reserved or placed on hold.
- Locks can only be borrowed for one day.
- Come into the branch and ask for a bike lock at the service desk.
- You're welcome to bring your bike into the lobby while you check out a lock. But bikes can’t be kept inside the library during your visit.
- Staff will check out the lock for you – don't forget to bring your library card!
- Lock up your bike, then bring the keys back in – staff will store them at the service desk
- When you're ready to go, return to the desk to get the keys.
- Unlock your bike, then return the lock and keys to staff.
Locks must be returned to the service desk the same day they are borrowed.
You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow a bike lock.
Bike Repair Kits
- Check availability and place a hold on a repair kit using our catalogue.
- Come to Central Library and ask for a bike repair kit at the service desk.
- Staff will check out the repair kit for you – don't forget to bring your library card!
- Repair kits can be borrowed for three weeks at a time.
- Repair kits can only be renewed if no one else has placed one on hold.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow a kit.
- Kits are only available to adult card holders.
- There is a limit on the total number of kits you can have on your card.
Birding Kits
- Check availability and place a hold on a birding kit using our online catalogue.
- Go to the service desk at your chosen pickup location
- Staff will help you check our the birding kit for you – don’t forget to bring your library card!
- Birding kits can be borrowed for four weeks.
- There are no renewals on birding kits.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow a kit.
- There is a limit on the total number of kits you can have on your card.
Book Clubs
- Browse and place holds on Book Club in a Bag kits at your convenience using the library's online catalogue.
- Place holds on kits up to a year in advance and manage them by suspending and reactivating your holds closer to your Club's meeting schedule.
- Some kits may be in high demand, so we recommend reactivating more than one hold at a time, to ensure at least one of your choices is ready to borrow in time for your Book Club's get-together.
- You'll have ten days to pick up your kit at an RPL location of your choice once it becomes available.
- Book Club in a Bag kits are not available for pick up outside of a Regina Public Library location.
- Check out up to five kits at a time, for up to six weeks each.
- Return your kit on time, so others can enjoy it!
- Kits can be returned to the customer service desk at any branch location.
- Make sure your kit is complete, using the checklist provided, before returning it to the library.
- If your group loses a book or part of the guide, you'll be charged a replacement fee for the cost of the item.
We recommend you elect one club member to check out a Book Club in a Bag kit on behalf of your group.
They'll need a valid Regina Public Library card and will be financially responsible for returning all the pieces with the kit. We've included a sign out sheet and a checklist in each kit, to help your Club keep track of its contents.
CO2 Monitors
- Check availability and place a hold on a CO2 monitor using our online catalogue.
- Go to the service desk at your chosen pickup location.
- Staff will check out the CO2 monitor for you – don’t forget to bring your library card!
CO2 monitors can be borrowed for seven days.
There are no renewals on CO2 monitors.
- Place your CO2 monitor on a wall, at a height of 1-2 meters. Make sure that the monitor is not near any windows, air supply vents, open flames, or too close to people.
- Readings on your monitor will fluctuate as people enter and leave the room, and as windows and doors are opened.
- Refer to the Aranet manual for more information on how to interpret the information shown on your CO2 monitor.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow a monitor.
- There is a limit on the total number of kits you can have on your card.
Discovery Pass
Passes are available on a first come, first served basis.
- Check our online catalogue to see if a pass is available or call the Hotline at 306-777-6000.
- Visit the branch and find the Discovery Pass display.
- Bring the Discovery Pass case to the service desk to check out a pass with your library card.
- Explore the Science Centre as many times as you’d like during the seven-day loan period.
- Please note that the Kramer IMAX Theatre is not included in the pass.
Passes are valid for 7 days until their stamped expiry date.
Holds and renewals are not allowed.
Discovery Passes do not need to be returned but can instead be recycled.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow a pass.
- Only one pass may be borrowed at a time, per household.
Language Kits
- Family Language Kits can be found at Central Children’s, Glen Elm and Sunrise branches.
- Indigenous Language Kits can be found at Albert Branch.
Holds can be placed on language kits for pickup at any of our locations.
Musical Instruments
- The main instrument collection is located at Central Library, in downtown Regina, with additional instruments at our Sherwood Village Branch.
- We cannot ship instruments to other branches for pick up due to the risk of damage.
- Find and place a hold on an instrument using our library catalogue or stop in at Central Library or Sherwood Village Branch for help with borrowing instruments.
- The card used to place the hold must be present at the time of pick up. You will need to authenticate your hold with your library card PIN.
Instruments can only be returned to the location they were borrowed from during hours of operation.
- We welcome donations of gently used stringed instruments, keyboards, and light percussion. We cannot accept wind instruments or pianos.
- If you'd like to donate an instrument, you can bring it to Long and McQuade (1445 McIntyre Street) or Central Library during open hours.
- As with other donations to Regina Public Library, the library reserves the right to decide on the disposition of all gifts received. All gifts become property of RPL.
- Charitable tax receipts will not be provided for donated instruments.
Radon Kits
- Check availability and place a hold on a radon kit using our Online Catalogue.
- Go to the service desk at your chosen pickup location.
- Staff will check out the radon kit for you – don’t forget your library card!
- Radon kits can be borrowed for three weeks.
- There are no renewals on radon kits.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow a radon kit.
- There is a limit on the total number of kits you can have on your card.
Regional Park Passes
- Passes are available on a first come, first served basis.
- Check our catalogue to see if a pass is available or call the Hotline at 306-777-6000.
- Visit the branch and request a Parks Pass at the service desk.
- Staff will check out the park pass for you – don't forget to bring your library card!
- Passes can be borrowed for seven days.
- There are no holds and renewals on park passes.
- Choose your Regional Park and hit the road!
- The pass itself is a hang tag for a vehicle. Display the hang tag from your rear-view mirror with the park pass facing out.
- Passes are for park entry only; camping and activity fees are not included.
- Return your Park Pass to any RPL location.
- There are no overdue fines for late passes at RPL. A $60 lost charge will be applied when a pass is overdue and will be removed when the pass is returned.
- You must be a Saskatchewan Library cardholder to borrow a pass.
- You can only borrow one pass at a time, per household.
RPG Kits
- Check availability and place a hold on a Role Playing Game (RPG) kit using our Online Catalogue.
- Go to the service desk at your chosen pickup location.
- Staff will check out the RPG kit for you – don’t forget your library card!
- RPG kits can be borrowed for six weeks.
- There are no renewals on RPG kits.
Return the Role Playing Game (RPG) kit to the service desk at any RPL location.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow Role Playing Game (RPG) Kits.
- There is a limit on the total number of kits you can have on your card.
Seed Library
- The Seed Library is available from March to October.
- Visit our Prince of Wales Branch to see what’s available.
- Bring your library card!
- Go to the service desk to check out your seeds, where staff will check them out for you.
- The types and quantity of seed packages are constantly changing, so check back later if you don’t find what you’re looking for!
- Donations can be dropped off at any branch, in a sealed bag, labeled with the seed type and when harvested or bought.
- We accept the following:
- Commercial seed packages, unopened or left over.
- Seeds for vegetables, flowers, herbs, and native species.
- Seeds you have harvested, cleaned, and dried.
- We do not accept Genetically Modified Seeds (GMO) or any species on the Saskatchewan Noxious Weed list.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow seeds.
- There is a limit of five seed packets per household.
Story Kits
- Browse, check availability, and place a hold on story kits using our Online Catalogue.
- Go to the service desk at your chosen pickup location.
- Staff will check out the story kit for you – don’t forget your library card!
- Story kits can be borrowed for 21 days.
- There are no renewals on story kits.
- You must be a Regina Public Library cardholder to borrow story kits.
- There is a limit on the total number of kits you can have on your card.
Toys
- Visit Central Library and browse our selection of trucks, dinosaurs, blocks, puzzles and more.
- You can borrow up to five toys per library card, for three weeks.
- All toys must be returned to Central Library where they will be cleaned upon return.
