Volunteering at the library gives you an opportunity to share and develop your skills while contributing to our community. We’re always innovating to offer a variety of volunteer roles to suit your interests and availability, and meet the needs of our customers.

Interested in tutoring? We're recruiting volunteers to support newcomers in improving their English language skills through one-to-one and small group tutoring. Shifts and locations are flexible - contact us at volunteer@reginalibrary.ca to get started!
Literacy Services
Providing English learning services to adults is the top priority of RPL’s Literacy Services unit. Our award-winning volunteer tutor program provides English language and literacy learning support to English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners and newcomers to Canada to build confidence and skills in a safe, learner-led environment. Programs include:
- One-to-one Tutors: Currently accepting volunteers to provide weekly in-person and virtual one-to-one tutoring sessions. The commitment is 2 hours per week.
- Group Tutoring Sessions: Currently accepting volunteers to host weekly in-person and virtual small group tutoring sessions. The commitment is 2 hours per week.
Literacy volunteers must have
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum CLB level 8
- Complete mandatory tutor training
All volunteers are required to meet with the Volunteer Coordinator discuss your interests and availability and to assess fit.
Resume & Job Coaching
Resume and Job Coaching is part of our Business Service offerings, along with resources to support small business, personal finance, and career planning. We are currently accepting volunteers to provide weekly one-to-one in-person and virtual resume help and job coaching including assisting with resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and job search skills.
Reading Buddies
Youth volunteers provide one-to-one reading support for young readers in Grades 2 to 3. Reading Buddies volunteers share books and play literacy games with their “little buddies” in a group setting. Currently a youth volunteer opportunity for teens aged 13 years and older. Volunteer training provided. The commitment is 1 hour per week for 7 weeks.
Math Buddies
Youth volunteers provide one-to-one math support to help children in Grades 2 and 3 master curriculum-based concepts. Math Buddies volunteers share their love of math and play games with their “little buddies” in a group setting. Currently a youth volunteer opportunity for teens aged 13 years and older. Volunteer training provided. The commitment is 1 hour per week for 7 weeks.
Did You Know?
Our Volunteer Coordinator can provide a certificate of volunteer hours completed upon request, if you need a record of your RPL volunteer contributions.
The library occasionally hosts special events that need volunteer support. We also partner with other organizations and interest groups at community events in Regina. We’re currently accepting volunteers for one-time event roles such as greeting guests, providing information, set-up/tear-down and other event tasks.
