Family Literacy Day
A good story is best enjoyed together
On Family Literacy Day, RPL celebrates one of our favourite activities; reading as a family.
Literacy activities are critical to cognitive development, success in school, and lifelong learning - not just for the little ones! On January 26, visit your local library branch and enjoy a magical afternoon of stories and fun activities, while learning new ways to make storytime part of your family time.
When: Saturday, January 26, 1:30 to 3:30 pm
Where: Your local library branch
Storytime it's about sharing something you love with the people you love. Whether your passion is pirates and treasure or fairytales and princesses, we encourage every family to explore together by making reading a tradition and cuddling up with a favourite book every day.

About Family Literacy Day
Family Literacy Day is an awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada.
It has been held nationwide annually since 1999.
Its goal is to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in literacy activities as a family. Finding time to read an learn together every day is crucial to a child's development. It fosters literacy skills for both children and adults, and helps the whole family learn together.
Each library branch will have activities, storytimes, special guests and cake. The activities will focus on sharing tools for family literacy that you can try at home.
