Smells like back to school season
It’s September, and that means families are scrambling to get into the routine of bus schedules, bag lunches, and getting to know new teachers.
To make the back-to-school hustle less overwhelming, we came up with a quick list of our favourite school support resources. But September can’t be all about schoolwork – so we also put together some fun new releases that will help get kids and teens reading again after a busy summer!
For a full list of resources all year round, visit our Students and Educators page.
School support:
Brainfuse is an online study resource that connects students with a live, online tutor between the 3:00 PM and midnight. Students can even upload documents for review by a writing expert! There are also study guides for common topics. This is a really cool service.
eLibrary helps students find magazine and newspaper articles on various topics by keyword search. While many students use Google searches, this resource makes it easier for students to focus their searching to published articles.
Science Online is targeted at grades 9 to 12 with learning modules that explore core science subjects like biology, chemistry, and more.
For teens:
Us in Ruins by Rachel Moore: A cursed ancient vase, a school archaeology trip, and a statue of a lost teen explorer that comes to life? This brand new standalone adventure rom-com is sure to be a hit.
Songlight by Moira Buffini: The first in a new dystopian trilogy where people with telepathic abilities are exterminated. Reviews are already great for this one!
This Book Kills by Ravena Guron: Jess is a scholarship student at an elite school. When one of the most popular kids ends up dying in the same way as a character from a short story she wrote, she finds herself at the center of a murder investigation.
Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma: A dark academia fantasy where the heroine must infiltrate an elite university where students study alongside vampires in order to find her missing sister.
When Haru Was Here by Dustin Thao: Eric is grappling with the death of his best friend when he reunites with Haru, the boy he met last summer. But when he realizes he’s the only one who can see Haru, Eric has to confront his reality.
