Newest RPL Writer in Residence brings both writing and publishing experience
Regina Public Library (RPL) is pleased to announce the selection of Michael Mirolla as the 2024-2025 Writer in Residence. The annual RPL Writer in Residence program offers local writers personal guidance from an established author. Mirolla is an author of over 20 books, and the publisher of Guernica Editions.

Team Canada's mental health practitioner to speak at Central Library

Explore Nuit Blanche Regina at Central Library
Central Library will be a Nuit Blanche Regina hub for a sublime night of free drop-in art experiences. The one-night-only festival, themed “The Sublime” for 2024, showcases artwork and performances in Regina’s downtown August 24.
“We’re excited to participate in Nuit Blanche Regina’s seventh year,” said Alyssa Fearon Director/Curator, Dunlop Art Gallery. “This is a night for the community to highlight local artists and celebrate our city’s downtown night life.”

Regina Public Library Shows Their Love for the City

Artist celebrates aging and the power of lived experience at Dunlop Art Gallery
Preeminent artist Leesa Streifler continues to defy stereotypes of feminine beauty in exhibition She is Present at Dunlop Art Gallery.
In her signature expressive painting style, Streifler fills the gallery walls with large, powerful works that challenge our perceptions about youth and beauty. This exhibition, dedicated to Streifler’s mother, echoes similar themes to her 1998 Dunlop Art Gallery exhibition Normal, subtly showcasing how these societal norms have persisted.

RPL Board approves Central Library funding request
The Regina Public Library Board of Directors this afternoon approved a motion to request that City Council approve funding for a new Central Library building in the forms of:
- A dedicated Central Library mill rate increase of 5.5% each year over five years, starting in 2025; and
- Debt, to be taken on through the City for a range of approximately $92M to $119M for the Central Library Renewal project, and which may be borrowed in portions as needed, from 2026 to 2029.

Dunlop Art Gallery Celebrates 2024 Governor General Award Winner
Dunlop Art Gallery (DAG) is honoured to recognize Métis artist Marjorie Beaucage, the winner of the 2024 Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts. The award is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious distinctions for artistic merit and contribution in Canada.
Join DAG in celebration of Beaucage‘s achievements with a book launch of her newest publication Leave Some for the Birds and a conversation with Erica Violet Lee, a nêhiyaw (Plains Cree) author, poet, community organizer, artist, and scholar.

Creative project presented around the world comes to Regina to play with language and world-building
Dunlop Art Gallery is proud to announce the opening of multimedia exhibition Second Tongues by Toronto/Vienna-based artist Serena Lee. In this collaborative project she ponders, “What would it be like if everyone was assigned a random second language at birth?” Presented at multiple locations around the world, Lee’s project considers the complexities of the local culture’s linguistics, ultimately emphasizing our connections, despite differences and distance.

Mother and son artist duo honour home at Dunlop Art Gallery
Dunlop Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of new exhibition “guwasidodi (old agency)” by tīná gúyáńí.
tīná gúyáńí (deer road) is an artist collective from guts’ists’i/mohkinstsis (Calgary) consisting of mother/son duo Glenna Cardinal (Tsuut’ina/Saddle Lake Cree) and seth cardinal dodginghorse (Tsuut’ina/Amskapi Piikani/Saddle Lake Cree).
