Amber Christensen
Amber Christensen is the Executive Director of RPL’s Central Library. She oversees the Outreach Services Unit, which helps connect people who are homebound and those living with visual impairments or print disabilities with specialized services. She also oversees the Digital Media Studio and the Prairie History Room which holds a local history collection of the prairies.
Amber holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Culture from the University of Calgary with a specialization in film studies and gender studies. Her previous experience with community-based and non-for-profit organizations inspired her to pursue a Masters in Library and Information Studies from the University of British Columbia. She also holds a Masters in Cinema and Media Studies from York University. She worked at several different libraries before joining RPL in 2018.
For many years, Amber made experimental super-8 films that have been shown at small film festivals in Canada.
