Jeff Barber

Library Director and CEO,

Jeff Barber is the Library Director and CEO of Regina Public Library. He is responsible for all aspects of the library’s programs, services, and operations and serves as the link between the Board and the day-to-day business of the library.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and French Literature, a Masters in Library and Information Science, a Masters in Business Administration, and is a Chartered Director. He began his library career at Southeast Regional Library in Weyburn before moving on to become the Head of Access Services at the University of Saskatchewan. Barber then felt called to return to public libraries and joined RPL in response. He has served in his current capacity since 2005.

Jeff is a member of many national and provincial library associations and is a past president of the Saskatchewan Library Association and a past chair of the Canadian Urban Libraries Council. In 2013, he was elected to the Standing Committee of the Metropolitan Libraries Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, completing his term in 2021.

In 2017, he was the recipient of the National Ken Haycock award for promoting librarianship and was named distinguished alumni of SLIS at the University of Alberta.
