Maka, Jahan (1988)
Maka's early oil paintings are marble-layered, anecdotal and colourful vignettes of his observations of life in Flin Flon and his recollections of his early life in Lithuania. His later paintings reflect a wide spectrum of sources ranging from his Lithuanian heritage to portraits and reinterpretations of current news stories. Maka's complex version is discussed by Michael D. Hall, a recognized scholar in the areas of folk and popular culture. Biographical Essay: Helen Marzolf
