Additional Information

How does one become internet famous in an age where digital privacy is a growing concern? In this compelling and humorous lecture, Famous New Media Artist Jeremy Bailey uses digital augmentation to transform his fingernails into museum plinths – “the most powerful objects in the museum” – upon which any artwork, from any historical period, can be displayed. Bailey’s words and actions playfully satirizes the political and social economy of the art world, the notion of “fame” and the occasionally disharmonious relationship between post-internet artists (who may not “make” things so much as they aggregate or curate content) and the contemporary museum (which still places tremendous emphasis on the art object).
