"While gardening is the framework, the topic is much more about our relationship to where we are." - Linda Duvall Pain of Separation plays with the romantic and nostalgic ideas of gardening the pervade contemporary urban sensibilities: "Women's voices alternatively muse on the pleasures of gardening, the delight of rebirth, and the little rebellions they enjoy in the 'wild', while recalling the toil and hardship of rural life in Saskatchewan. In this video installation, the elliptical stories of gardening in "the old country" contrast shaRegina Public Libraryy with the lived experience of new immigrants. This evocative work leaves us floating between the pleasure and the pain of making a garden." -Su Ditta
