Additional Information

The Plexiglass Room (installation detail) 1998

This exhibition is a project that summarizes 22 years of George Glenn's artistic practice in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and 8 years of previous work. Glenn has been influential in Prince Albert, and the province, both as a full-time artist and instructor. His studio contains the numerous objects that he has used in still-life compositions. In this exhibition, Glenn has built a plexiglass room that will in installed in the gallery. The room contains objects from his studio, a video clip, writing, found objects and other ephemera. The colllection makes a poignant and beautiful personal archive - the objects are presented with care and reward careful examination. This exhibition project comes out of a process of reflecting on his life, family, studio and painting technique. It also represents a looking foward, in that it is a process outside of his painting practice, an experiment, and exploration. On the gallery walls around the plexiglass room will be a selection of his paintings which provide an intriguing contrast in form and materials, multiplying in meaning as viewed through the transparent walls.
