Artist Residency: Marjorie Beaucage

Marjorie Beaucage is an independent film and video artist who has directed and produced numerous productions exploring personal and community stories. Community-based projects that give back to the people their stories and the tools to create for themselves, are always part of the agenda in Beaucage's work. Her work as a film and video curator includes, Mendel Gallery (1994) and Reel Aboriginal, Toronto's first Aboriginal Film Festival at Harbourfront (1991). Beaucage has extensive experience as a teacher, educator, activist, innovator in designing training and education processes. For the last 25 years she has worked in both rural and urban settings from the streets of downtown Winnipeg to the barrens of Labrador working for change and image-ing new possibilities. Beaucage will conduct a residency at the Dunlop, facilitating a public video making workshop. The gallery will present a screening of works from her career, including an artist's talk.
