Supersonic Transport explores the editorial and design strategies of recent publications which fall somewhere between do-it-yourself "zines", and mass marketed publications.

Additional Information

Supersonic Transport will explore the editorial and design strategies of recent publications which fall somewhere between do-it-yourself "zines", and mass marketed publications. Subjects include art, music, fashion, design, architecture, and youth culture. These "hyzines" defy easy categorization, but foreground ideas particular to emerging cultures. The exhibition consists of one hundred publications from all over including New York, Tokyo, Reykjavik, and Bombay. This project will dissect editorial and design strategies of these magazines which include Material, Grand Royal, PuRegina Public Librarye, Émigré, Barf-Out, and Sleazenation. The gallery will become a visual archive and reading room, sympathetic to the library context.
