At the Scentbar fragrance launch party and advertised "business hours" viewers are invited into a performance/ installation that provides exclusive service and participation in consumer culture. However, the highly polished cleanliness and luxury of the experience is disrupted by the presence of monitors presenting consumptive images of beauty interspersed with jarring documentation of environmental degradation and the global militarization of the planet. With expert consultancy, clients are asked a series of questions about their memories and self-image. Using the questionnaire results, a unique perfume is created from recurrent modern scents to reflect the anxieties and desires of the individual. At the fragrance launch party, guests will have the opportunity to eat, drink and have a custom made scent prepared for them. This project is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Back Talk.
