Shelley Ouellet: talk back
Additional Information

With talk back Shelley Ouellet generates a unique work-in-progress that involves young people from the community served by the Regina Public Library Sherwood Village Branch. Developed in collaboration with students from Michael A. Riffel High School and Winston Knoll Collegiate, the talk back project identifies and iterates social and political concerns that they feel are not being heard. The talk back project will become manifest in two forms. First, a mural will be constructed in the gallery of tags pulled from message bearing bookmarks that have been inserted into library materials at the Regina Public Library and at the high schools. Those who find a bookmark are invited to return the tag end to the Gallery. The mural will be constructed by participating students from January 16 through March 15, 2006. Also, from January 21 until January 27 the Sherwood Village Gallery will operate as a studio; where members of the community are invited to drop by and talk back about an important issue. These taped messages will be shown as a multi-channel installation for the duration of the talk back exhibition.
