Lynn Richardson: Inter-Glacial Free Trade Agency
Additional Information
Other associated events: Opening Reception Thursday, January 25, 7:30 pm
Set against a post global warming landscape Inter-Glacial Free Trade Agency examines the relationship between governments and corporations through the guise of a trade show. The exhibition focusses specifically on the end products marketed to the last standing consumer, including fashionable survival gear for a post-industrial ice age. All items are branded with the same logo denoting the notion that in the 'new world' of free trade there is only one choice. The installation is intended to be playful, even humorous but reflects the devastating pressures on our ecosystem, fragmented by an industrial agenda that diminishes the planet's capacity to support diversity of life. Lynn Richardson currently teaches sculpture at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg.
