It is well-known that Regina 'folk' have a passion for gardening. Garden Folk will exhibit at Dunlop Art Gallery as a means of celebrating and acknowledging the Regina love affair with gardening, and how art and gardening can be used to nourish body, mind and spirit. Artists in the exhibition include Victor Cicansky, Gerri Ann Siwek and Donna Kriekle. A special feature of this exhibition is the participation of Bonnie Chapman and 25-30 studio artists from her Artist-in-Residence Program Creativity for Health at the Pasqua Hospital. The studio group includes oncology, palliative, mental health, and acquired brain injury patients and their families. This collaborative health and social service project is designed to bring awareness to the public about how gardening and the visual arts empower healing and social change and how it can contribute to the psychological and spiritual well being of community. This unique opportunity is the first time that Dunlop Art Gallery and Regina Public Library have partnered with an Artist-in-Residence Program at a hospital in order to support a transformational community health project.
