Robin Lambert: Searching For Us
Additional Information
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 24, 1:00 pm
Robin Lambert brings to Dunlop Art Gallery an exhibition of images, data, photographs, objects and mixed ephemera resulting from a month long relational aesthetics project. For his work, Lambert relocated two people, unknown to each other, to Vancouver, BC, for a one month period. During that time, it was the goal of the two strangers to find each other in this large metropolis and to document their search experience with photographs, GPS tracking, journals, sketches and other recording materials. Working with this evidence, Lambert creates an exhibition that traces and presents evidence of the search experience, thus highlighting the condition of longing, the desire to unite and the treasure of human relationships.
Robin Lambert's practice is multidisciplinary with a strong background in ceramic practice. His work has increasingly become relational, meaning invested in the interactions and relationships between people within their daily lives as cultural beings. He positions himself as an eccentric researcher who orchestrates moments of human exchange. Lambert resides in Red Deer, Alberta and studied at the Australia National University (2003), the Alberta College of Art and Design (BFA 2004) and the University of Regina (MFA 2006). He has exhibited throughout Canada and in San Jose, California.
