Additional Information

Videomaker and photographer Deville Cohen uses black-and-white Xerox images to create dreamy, fragile, and cleverly theatrical mise-en-scenes for his 18 minute video, POISON. Starring an 8-ball and a die, who meet at a gas station and embark on a road trip, the piece makes clever use of natural and man-made objects in ways which provoke meditations on consumption, corporeality, and how we relate to our environment. POISON cleverly and humorously conflates sets, characters and props as well as the mediums of video, theatre, musical performance, and sculpture. Deville Cohen was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He studied at the Weiseensee Kunsthochschule in Berlin and holds an MFA from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, 2010. His performance-based photographs and video installations have been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe.
