I signed up for a virtual services library card. Can I use it to check out physical materials?

My hold says “shipped” or “held/ready for pickup.” Why can’t I cancel it?
Items that have a status of 'held for pickup,' ‘ready for pickup’ or ‘shipped’ can't be canceled nor can the pickup location be changed by customers without staff assistance.
Once your hold is ready, you will receive a notice by your preferred method of communication (email, text, or phone call) that your hold is ready, and where you can pick it up. If you wish to change where you pick up, contact our hotline at 306-777-6000 and staff will help you.
How many holds can I sign out at a time?
You can sign out up to 100 holds at a time. High demand items, such as DVDs and CDs have limits on the number that may be borrowed at any one time. All Popular Picks books and Popular Picks DVDs are now available for four weeks.
Can I extend my pickup deadline if I can’t make it? How?
Please call the Hotline at (306) 777-6000 before your 10-day expiry date to extend your pick-up deadline.
I live outside the city limits but come into Regina often. Can I place holds and borrow RPL materials?
SILS customers can select RPL branches for pick up locations. You can select any participating SILS location as your pick-up location.
How long will I be able to keep my new holds?
You can keep your new items for four weeks.
Why can I only pick up at certain times?
We are scheduling pick up times to ensure we can maintain social distancing and keep customers and staff safe. Our book drops are open at those times so we can manage the very high volumes of materials we are receiving back.
I know that I have fines on my card. Will I still be able to place and pick up holds?
Yes. Overdue fines are being waived until the end of 2020. If you have fees showing on your account, talk to a staff member for help.
Starting on January 1, 2021, RPL will no longer charge overdue fines for library materials.
