Why can’t I see what number I am in the hold queue? The reason you no longer see where in the queue you are is because holds no longer get filled in purely numeric order, rather it depends on how close an item is to the patron who requested it. For example, you may be the 7th person in the queue, but if the person before you returns the book to your branch, you will be next in line for the book. Additionally, if you are requesting a book that is part of Regina Public Library's collection, and the patrons ahead of you are from another city, as a Regina Public Library patron, you would get priority. Because of this it is virtually impossible to give our patrons an accurate record of where they are in the queue. Holds can come in at any time, and with the new system they should come in faster overall than the system we used in the past. From your account, you can also “freeze” a hold until you are ready to receive and use the material. |
